Silpakorn Summer School 2018

The Faculty of Science, Silpakorn University worked with the department of Chemistry, the Department of Microbiology and the Department of Mathematics to establish a project called “Summer Programs @Silpakorn 2018” to propagate knowledge and existing technology in order to be internationally recognized.

This program took place on 31 July – 9 August 2018 at the Faculty of Science, Silpakorn University, Sanamchan Campus which contained 4 programs that underlined the key knowledge of the faculty in order to become better known on both national and international stages. The 4 programs include:
1. Solar Drying Technology
2. Preparation and Application of Colorants from Natural Dyes
3. Analytical Techniques for Water Analysis
4. Number Theory on “Problems related to multiplicative functions. Some combinatorial sequences. Fibonacci and Lucas number”)
There were a total of 50 people from 4 countries who participated; 25 from the National University of Laos and Savannakhet University, 28 from Quy Nhon University, Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted-Khanh Hoa Province, Ho Chi Minh City University of Food Industry and University of Economics and Law, and 7 from Caraga State University. All participants selected 1 training program that took 10 days.
In the programs, there were 8 participants in Solar Drying Technology, 10 in Preparation and Application of Colorants from Natural Dyes and 7 in Analytical Techniques for Water Analysis and 25 in Number Theory.

Project Supporting Solar Greenhouse

To Promote Collaboration between Thai and Senegal Agriculture
On Wednesday 25 May 2016, Mr. Wijak Chittarat, Ambassador to the Royal Thai Embassy, Dakar, presided over the opening ceremony of the Solar Green House for the Senegal Government where Mamadou Amadou SECK, Director General, ITA on behalf of the Senegal Government to receive the Solar Green House at Saint Benoit de Keur Moussa. This was due to the project supporting the Solar Green House to develop a collaboration between Thai and Senegal agriculture and to spread Thai agro-technical innovation Senegal so as to learn and apply agriproduct processing and value-adding methods. This solar greenhouse was a result of the research of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serm Janjai who took the lead of research team from the Solar Energy Technology Laboratory (STL), Science Program in Physics, Silpakorn University.

On this occasion, Dr. Mamadou Amadou SECK expressed his gratitude to the Thai government which has supported the project by promising to adopt the royal initiative projects and academic knowledge that they have learnt, to develop agricultural technology in Senegal.
Additionally, Ange-Marie Niouky, the high priest of St. Benoit, praised Thai agricultural technology of used in the Solar Green House which will be advantageous to the church.
