On 15 September 2022, Silpakorn University was honored to have H.E. Mr. Lorenzo Galanti, the Ambassador of Italy in Bangkok as a keynote speaker on the topic of “Beyond Soft Power: The Value Creation in Cultural Encounters. Reflection on Cultural Diplomacy” in “The 27th Silpa Bhirasri Special Lecture on the Occasion of Silpa Bhirasri Day in 2022.”
This year, the 27th Silpa Bhirasri Special Lecture consists of interesting content which is rich in historical values based on cultural diversity between Thailand and Italy. Moreover, there was a discussion about “The Inspiration of Italian Architecture in Siam through Docu-drama: Me and the Magic Door” by Mrs. Francesca Andreini Galanti, the script writer and Prof. Paolo Piazzaedi, the author of “Italians at the Court of Siam.” Finally, a documentary film “Me and the Magic Door: Discovering Italian Architecture in Bangkok” was shown. It is a film on the architectural works of Italian artists in Siam during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
