STUDENT VISA

Please see the procedure in order to obtain the non-immigration ED visa as follows:

  1. Apply for a program with Silpakorn University
  1. Obtain letter of acceptance

Once you are accepted by SIlpakorn University, you will receive letter of acceptance which is one of all required documents for non-immigration ED visa with a Royal Thai Embassy or a Royal Thai Consulate – General.

  1. Apply for non-immigration ED visa at R a Royal Thai Embassy or a Royal Thai Consulate – General in your country.

 Required documents, fees, other expenses, and timing will be according to requirements of each a Royal Thai Embassy or a Royal Thai Consulate – General, therefore, please check information through the link  http://www.thaiembassy.org/main/ prior to your presence.

There will be the following documents required along with other documents;

1. Passport or travel document (must be valid not less than 6 months)

2. Letter of acceptance and other documents for university

3. A photo of your passport Photographs

4. Filled application form

5. Visa application fee

Once the non-immigration ED visa is granted, you are ready to enter Thailand.

Please make sure that your travelling schedule will be during the validity of the non-immigration ED visa.

In the event that you are in Thailand with a 60-day tourist visa, you are eligible to change the visa to non-immigration ED visa within the first 30 days of your visa. It is very important to note that your tourist visa must be valid at least 21 more days in any case. This means is not recommended. 

You will be granted a 90-days student visa by the Royal Thai Embassy or a Royal Thai Consulate-General. Within first 90 days in Thailand, you need to register for your program and pay for your tuition fee. With a confirmation letter concerning the registration and tuition fee payment, you will be eligible to apply for extension to the full period of 1 year at the Immigration Bureau or an immigration office or checkpoint.

You must apply for stay extension for 1 year after you arrive in Thailand as early as possible in order to prevent unfavorable events but NOT after the first 90-days periodYou must submit the application in person.

Required documents 

  1. Filled Application for Extension for Temporary Stay in the Kingdom (TM.7)   Download
  2. Filled Acknowledgement for Terms and Conditions for Temporary Stay in Thailand form (STM.2)  Download
  3. A copy of your passport
  4. ID photo in size of 4 x 6 cm.
  5. Tuition fee receipt. In case of a full scholarship recipient, you would need to submit a letter from Silpakorn University indicating that you are full scholarship recipient in stead of a tuition fee receipt.
  6. A letter from Silpakorn University certifying that you are a current student of Silpakorn University and requesting for temporary stay extension for you. The letter must contain details of your program such as name of program, education level, structure of curriculum, and duration of study

Your student visa is a single entry visa. If you would like to travel outside of Thailand during studying and staying in Thailand, you will need to apply for re-entry permit. There are 2 types of re-entry permits: a single entry permit and multiple-entry permit.

Required documents

  1. Filled application for re-entry permit (TM.8)   Download
  2. ID photo in size of 4 x 6 cm
  3. A copy of the first page of your passport, a copy of  a page of your current student visa and a copy of a page of your last entry stamp

Where to apply for a re-entry permit 

You can apply for a re-entry permit at a nearest immigration office/checkpoint. You must submit the required documents in person.

Fees

Single re-entry fee is 1,000 THB

Multiple re-entry fee is 3,800 THB

If you are staying in Thailand for a period longer than 90 consecutive days, you must report your current address in Thailand to the Immigration Bureau or an Immigration Office / Checkpoint every 90 days. This procedure can be done within 15 days before or 7 days after each 90-day period expires. If you fail to do the 90-day report, you will be fined 2,000 THB. And if this happens more than once or twice, you risk your visa.

However, if you leave Thailand anytime during the 90-day period, the day count will restart from upon the arrival date of your re-entry into Thailand.

How can you report 

       1. Online submission

You can do the 90-day reporting online through the link: https://extranet.immigration.go.th/fn90online/online/tm47/TM47Action.do?cmd=acceptTerm

   2. Submission in person at the Immigration Bureau / Office

You can do the 90-day reporting by submitting required documents in person at the nearest immigration office / checkpoint in your residence area. You can also have a proxy to submit the required documents for you.

Required documents: 

  1. Your original passport
  2. Your departure card (TM.6)
  3. Previous receipt of notification (if any)
  4. Filled application for the 90-day reporting (TM.47)   Download

3. Registered mail 

You can also do the 90-day report by sending required documents to an immigration office in your residence area via registered mail.

Required documents:

  1. Copies of all passport pages (including latest arrival stamp in Thailand or latest visa stamp)
  2. copies of the arrival/departure card TM.6 (front and back)
  3. Previous notifications of staying over 90 days (if any)
  4. Filled application for the 90-day reporting (TM.47)   Download
  5. An envelope with a 5 Thai baht stamp addressed to your Thai address.

Please make sure that the required documents will be delivered to the immigration office at least 7 working days before the 90-day period expires.

After you obtain the extension for 1 year after your arrival in Thailand, if you have to stay in Thailand for your studies longer than the period of 1 year granted (your last day you can stay in Thailand), you must file for a temporary stay extension. The maximum period of the extension is 1 year. You must submit the application in person and you are advised to file for the stay extension within 30 days before the last day of your stay permit.
